Indeed, since it is used to inhale the vapours of vaping liquids, it is important to keep it clean not only to safeguard its efficiency but also for hygienic reasons. It is good practice, therefore, to clean certain elements daily, in particular the atomizer and the nozzle. To do this superficially, you would do well to use a piece of paper towel because, unlike other types of paper, it does not leave lint.

How to clean the tip of the electronic cigarette
Before talking about the maintenance of the e-cig’s internal components, it is appropriate to talk about an element—the drip tip—whose cleaning is often neglected. Many vapers worry about hunting down the best methods for cleaning the atomizer and the heating element but do not give the hygiene of the tip its due importance.
This part of the e-cigarette is the only part that comes into contact with the mouth, which is precisely why you should always keep it clean, even when you do not have soap and water at your disposal. During the day, the nozzle can accumulate dust, saliva and germs, so you would do well to wipe it with a disinfectant wipe between vapes.
When you get home, however, the best solution is to disassemble the drip tip and soak it in a solution of soap and water or water and sanitiser. It only takes a few minutes to remove not only any microorganisms, condensation, saliva and dust but also traces of tobacco or fruity liquids. In this way, if you want to change the liquid, you will not feel the aftertaste of the previously used one in the nozzle.

How to clean the atomizer of the electronic cigarette
Cleaning the atomizer is also critical for a top vaping experience. A quick wipe with a piece of paper towel will do if you are away from home and have neither the time nor the opportunity to do better. Otherwise, you can rely on various solutions to remove aromas and prevent the proliferation of bacteria and the formation of solid residues.
The classic method involves immersion washing in hot water and detergent. Before doing this, remember to remove the coil. A bath of about 30 minutes is more than enough time to clean your atom cleaner properly. If, however, you want to carry out a deeper cleaning, you can opt for boiling or ultrasonic cleaning.
In the first case, all you have to do is fill a saucepan with water, put the atomizer in it and turn on the cooker. From the moment the water starts to boil, it will take 15 minutes to complete the washing process, at the end of which—once the water has cooled down—you can dry the component with a cloth. For ultrasonic washing, you will need a special device, a kind of small washing machine. This type of washing removes all residual dirt and gives the tank a shiny appearance.
How to clean the resistance of an electronic cigarette
The coil, i.e. the resistance of the electronic cigarette, is a critical component for the quality of vaping. It is this element that heats the liquid in the atomizer and turns it into vapour. With use, however, it often happens that liquid residues form in the coil of resistive wire. Good maintenance dictates that the resistance should be replaced every month; however, to have an optimal vaping experience, it is a good practice to clean it typically.
There are mainly two methods used to do this:
- the dry burn;
- washing under running water.
The first technique involves removing the cotton and liquid from the tank and activating the resistance ‘dry burn’. By becoming incandescent, the coil burns off the liquid residue and makes it easier to remove. The second, on the other hand, consists of the most classic of washes, which can also be carried out thanks to a toothbrush and detergent.
